JudgeCo Judicial Training Session in Riga

On 3 November, TRI Leiden (Leiden Law School) organised in Riga, in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University, a Judicial Training Session for 13 European insolvency judges. The Judicial Training Session seeks to encourage and facilitate cooperation and communication between judges in cross-border insolvency cases.

The Judicial Training Sessions take place as part of the JudgeCo Project. Professor Bob Wessels drafted ‘EU Cross-Border Insolvency Court-to-Court Cooperation Principles and Guidelines’ (‘JudgeCo Principles and Guidelines’) which are further discussed during the trainings. The JudgeCo Principles and Guidelines contribute as required in the draft European Insolvency Regulation to this cooperation and communication. The text of the JudgeCo Principles and Guidelines can be found here. On 1-2 December 2014 a subsequent training will take place in Amsterdam.
