Professor Wessels at ELI Projects Conference and General Assembly in Zagreb

Business Rescue ProjectFrom 24 to and including 26 September 2014 in Zagreb, Croatia, the Projects Conference and General Assembly of the European Law Institute (ELI) will take place. Renowned legal professionals will gather to discuss ways to improve law in Europe. Professor Bob Wessels (Project Reporter) will be in Zagreb to present and discuss the ELI project on the Rescue of Business in Insolvency Law, which aims to promote a shared legal approach in rescuing businesses in distress.

At the Projects Conference on Thursday 25 September, professor Wessels will present the aim, its necessity and thorough approach taken in the Business Rescue Project.  The ultimate aim of the Business Rescue project is to design a framework that will enable the further development of coherent and functional rules for business rescue in Europe. The target date for this is mid 2016. He will elaborate on the steps that have been taken so far and other developments regarding Business Rescue. The project’s scope is broad and ambitious, but professor Wessels will give a coherent view on all developments within the project and the field of insolvency law (including the relation between the project and the European Commission’s Recommendation ‘On a New Approach to Business Failure and Insolvency’ of 12 March 2014), while providing for an outlook for upcoming challenges.
